Mental Health Framework and Implementation and Expansion

Award Date: December 2, 2024

This grant funded the implementation and expansion of a mental health framework that established a stepped-care approach for the student community. This entailed developing a framework for access to mental health care, community resources, and support for students experiencing emotional distress, financial distress, lack of family or community support, and mental health and wellness needs. This approach included:

  • Consultation and mentorship with The Jed Foundation to gain recognition as a JED campus;
  • Creation of eight paid student internship opportunities;
  • Establishment of a Care Manager role/team within the Student Engagement Division that connects students with campus and community resources; and
  • Collaboration with the IU President Mental Health Task Force, IU students, faculty, staff, and community partners to promote mental health first aid awareness and education.
