Reginald S. Lourie Center for Infants and Young Children

Adventist HealthCare’s The Lourie Center for Children’s Social & Emotional Wellness is a national leader in research to advance science and treatment in infant and early childhood mental health and education, with a particular focus on how trauma impacts learning and development.

The Lourie Center was founded in 1982 by the late Dr. Reginald S. Lourie, a world-wide leader in the fields of pediatric child psychiatry and infant mental health, and his colleagues, including Dr. T. Berry Brazelton and Dr. Stanley Greenspan, as an outgrowth of their six-year clinical research project funded by the National Institute of Mental Health. In July 2006, The Lourie Center affiliated with Adventist HealthCare. The Lourie Center blends direct service, research, and training through five core services, including its nationally recognized Therapeutic Preschool Program (TPP), Early/Head Start, Lourie Center School, Parent Child Services Program, and Clinical Training. Each Lourie Center program includes research as an essential component. The Lourie Center also collaborates with educational, research, and funding partners to scale (and introduce in other communities) trauma-informed practices and build early childhood workforce resiliency.
